New Face at Eye Physicians & Surgeons, P.A. By Eye Physicians and Surgeons, P.A. on October 22, 2013

Eye Physicians & Surgeons, P.A. welcomed a new face to the practice - or should I say - a new set of eyes?  In October, Dehn C. Tuyen, O.D. came to us from Philadelphia, PA where she was Primary Care Resident at The Eye Institute, Pennsylvania College of Optometry until July, 2013.  She served internships and externships at:  Hoopes in Sandy, UT, The Veteran's Affair in Las Vegas, NV and Amarillo, TX, and graduated from the Southern California College of Optometry.

You may find it interesting to learn of Dr. Tuyen's volunteer and special experiences as she is quite the humanitarian.     Dr. Tuyen was involved in providing free healthcare to underprivileged individuals in the Los Angeles area and also participated in Hurricane Relief in New Orleans and Galveston.  Her efforts here included roofing, framing, painting, and demolition.  When you meet Dr. Tuyen you will be surprised that such a petite young woman could participate in all that construction work!  In 2009 Dr. Tuyen went on an Optometric Mission Trip to Kenya, Africa where some of her work included pharmacologic drug dispensing, treating anterior segment disease, assessing visual needs, dispensing glasses and visiting homes.  Other mission trip destinations included Tijuana, MX and Penang, Malaysia where she screened for preventable blindness,  and worked in a homeless shelter, orphanage and refugee camp.  Dr. Tuyen's spirit of serving others can be traced as far back as 2006 when she was Youth Leader at the First Baptist Church in Davis, CA and volunteered at Families First in Davis, CA where she mentored severely abused children and taught weekly lessons.

Be sure to come into our office at 1207 North Scott Street in Wilmington and receive a welcoming smile from Dr. Tuyen - we are proud to welcome her to our practice.
