Dr. Jeffrey Minkovitz is a graduate of Harvard University and the University of Massachusetts Medical School. He completed his ophthalmology residency at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis, and then served a cornea and refractive surgery fellowship at the Wilmer Ophthalmological Institute of Johs Hopkins University. He has maintained his faculty position at Johns Hopkins, where he continues to teach ophthalmic surgery and has received the Outstanding Teacher Award from the residents at Wilmer. Dr. Minkovitz has done extensive research in ophthalmology, particularly in corneal disease and refractive surgery. He has participated in the early research on Excimer laser photorefractive surgery (PRK) since 1994, and has been offering this procedure to his Wilmington patients since its first FDA approval in 1996. In addition to refractive surgery for the correction of nearsightedness and astigmatism, Dr. Minkovitz also performs cataract surgery using the latest techniques, without needles, patches, or stitches. He performs corneal transplants, and screens and treats a variety of other eye diseases. |
