Dr. Jeffrey B. Minkovitz, ophthalmologist at Eye Physicians and Surgeons specializing in laser vision correction, cataract surgery, and corneal transplants is also the longest contributing author featured in the New Castle County Women’s Journal.  His informative articles can be regularly seen in this quarterly journal -  proudly just inside front cover.  In the most recent edition – Second Quarter 2016 – Dr. Minkovitz’s article is of great interest to many, especially those who long for great vision without the assistance of spectacles or contact lenses, and also those fascinated by the latest technology.  His article is titled:  “Major Advance in Laser Vision Correction Technology – Now Available in Delaware.”  As for this blogger, I am in awe of the difference technology can make to one’s vision and the “miracles” that can be done now versus 15 to 20 years ago.  Dr. Minkovitz has personally participated in the advances technology has made during his career.  He was a co-investigator in the FDA clinical trial for the first refractive lasers in the 1990s.  He witnessed the transition from radial keratotomy to the fast and precise laser.

As the first surgeon in Delaware to perform Laser Vision Correction, among his many other firsts, it is no surprise that Dr. Minkovitz has now founded Laser Vision Delaware, LLC which recently opened  at Eye Physicians and Surgeons and is located in the lower level of 1207 North Scott Street.  Dr. Minkovitz will be using the Alcon Wavelight Allegretto laser:  the marvels of this newer laser include speed (10 x faster), accuracy, predictable outcomes, greater comfort, and lower cost!  You may want to note the phone number for laser appointments is (302) 656-2020 ext. 1.

When first introducing laser vision correction in Delaware in 1995, Dr. Minkovitz traveled with his patients to Johns Hopkins in Baltimore to provide the treatment. That said, one can understand his enthusiasm as Dr. Minkovitz introduces this newest technology to Delaware.  Additionally, he will also make this latest laser technology available to other surgeons in order to provide all patients the best visual outcomes possible in the most up to date and comfortable setting.

Eye Physicians and Surgeons applauds Dr. Minkovitz's newest venture and we are excited to be participants in this technology advancement.
