Would you check your blood glucose more often if you didn’t have to prick your finger?  It is reported that pricking one’s finger is viewed as a burden and is a barrier to compliance.  Depending on the type of diabetes and the medicine that is used, a diabetic may need to prick their finger up to 10 times a day!  The good news is that the finger prick tests for monitoring may soon be a thing of the past, thanks to scientists who have developed an adhesive skin patch that measures glucose levels every 10-15 minutes.  Professor Richard Guy and colleagues created a skin patch that potentially will change how glucose is monitored.  Perhaps this will bring better compliance to the diabetic and thereby lead to better control and wellness.
