Dr. Douglas DeMello
Dr. DeMello joined Eye Physicians and Surgeons, PA after having practiced in Wilmington, Delaware for over 35 years. He is a graduate of the University of Virginia where he took graduate level courses in visual psychophysics. He subsequently studied optometry, graduating from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry.
Dr. DeMello has enjoyed providing comprehensive eye care to individuals and many Delaware families., and has been involved in the Delaware Division for the Visually Impaired, the Delaware Department of Correction and the military.
Throughout his career, he has owned and managed his own optical and provided complete contact lens services.
Dr. DeMello is a welcome addition to the Eye Physicians family.

Dr. DeMello joined Eye Physicians and Surgeons in 2013 following a successful independent career in nearby Trolley Square, where he had been practicing since 1979. His many devoted patients followed him to our office, and many new patients came to appreciate his professionalism as well as his humor and good nature.
Doug will always be remembered for brightening the spirits in the office. He could always be relied upon for a joke or a kind word. Dr. DeMello truly enjoyed his work and his connection to his patients and staff. His dedication was without question and was evident each and every day – he was as dedicated to others as they were to him. He will be missed by all of us who had the pleasure of working with him over the years and we extend our deepest condolences to his family.
