Eye Physicians and Surgeons is interested in our surrounding community and we are demonstrating that by becoming a Drop Off site for the Marine Foundation Toys For Tots campaign. Upon request submitted to the Marine Toys For Tots website, we were approved as a drop site and received the collection boxes shortly thereafter. These boxes are in the waiting area of our office as 1207 North Scott Street in Wilmington. The mission of the Marines in this campaign is to collect new and unwrapped toys to distribute as Christmas gifts for less fortunate children in the community. Their primary goal is to deliver (along with these gifts) a message of hope that will assist these children in "becoming responsible, productive, patriotic citizens." We are proud to be a part of this effort! Please feel welcome to drop by our office and place a new and unwrapped toy in the box. We are open Monday through Friday from 7:30 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. A representative from the Marines will retrieve these boxes in mid-December and we hope to have a good demonstration of participating in their mission!
Another mode of community involvement has been taking place for quite a few years by the staff of Eye Physicians and Surgeons. We receive 20 empty Christmas stockings each year from the Salvation Army, then EPS staff volunteer to fill these stockings with gifts and clothing for children of families in need in Wilmington. Even in these stressful ecomonic times, our staff chooses to sacrifice of themselves to help others. By December 5th these stockings will be filled to the brim ( and some overflowing) and will be picked up by volunteers from New Castle County and Wilmington Police Departments. In turn, they will deliver these filled stockings to the Toy Shop for distribution by additional volunteers at Wilmington's Salvation Army.
We believe that the small part we play in these efforts will make a difference and we acknowledge the charitable work that is done all year long by these and other organizations.
